HD-DVD - the nextgen video

It is not clear yet whether it will be Blu-ray or HD DVD that will be the next generation high density DVD discs to dominate, and they could even potentially coexist through combo players.

So for those of you that want to get the latest high spec media center PC (a much better solution than Akimbo) that takes advantage of these new generation HD discs then you will need one that supports both HD DVD and Blu-ray.

Such a media PCs do exist and come in the form of the VidaBox LUX or MAX. These combination Media Center PCs boast both HD DVD and Blu-ray compatibility and up to a whopping 3.75TB of storage. Whether or not you are a fan of Akimbo, SearchVideo or BBC iPlayer then a Media Center PC like the VidaBox is definitely suitable. As well as hedging your bets this is a good way to see how the two competing formats compare on the same hardware. However, it comes at a hefty price tag with the 3.75TB LUX costing $4399.

These media center PCs would be great for taking advantage of the internet TV revolution and to SearchVideo and watch TV using the BBC iPlayer.
